FAQ
Why Laboratory Grown Diamonds?
Ethical:
Lab grown diamonds are free from the ethical issues often associated with mined diamonds, such as financing armed conflict, forced labor, violence and exploitation.
Mine free:
The production of lab-grown diamonds typically has a lower environmental impact compared to diamond mining, especially open-pit mining, which can cause significant environmental degradation including deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution, and loss of biodiversity, often in vulnerable regions with limited environmental protections.
Cost Effective:
Lab grown diamonds are generally much cheaper than mined diamonds of the same quality.
Identical in composition:
Lab grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds. They have the same hardness, brilliance and fire, making them indistinguishable from mined diamonds.
Why are your prices so low compared to other similar retailers?
We work directly with lab diamond manufacturers and jewellers, and do not currently have any brick and mortar stores, this keeps overheads low and we can pass those savings on to you. There are many other retailers with similar overheads to TDC and to put it simply, we aren’t marking up our pieces as much as our competitors. We believe the new-found accessibility and affordability that came with the advent of laboratory created diamonds should be available to everyone.
Do your diamonds come with certification?
All diamonds over 1 carat come with certification, generally from IGI as they are considered to be the experts when it comes to laboratory grown diamonds.

What does the custom jewellery process look like?
Step 1: Fill in the form on our custom page or contact us at tasmandiamondco@outlook.com and tell us about what you want to create.
Step 2: We will send you a quote to make your jewellery and you can decide if you want to proceed with us.
Step 3: If you decide to proceed, we will request a 50% non-refundable down payment on the quoted amount.
Step 4: Design: We’ll have a CAD (Computer Aided Design) created for you - this is your opportunity to change or tweak the design to your liking and let us know of any changes you want to make.
Step 5: Diamond Sourcing: Pictures and videos will be sent to you of your diamond as well as any associated certifications. If you don’t like that diamond for any reason, let us know and we’ll send you more options.
Step 6: Production: Production can take anywhere from around 4 - 8 weeks, though sometimes shorter, rarely longer. Some designs may take longer to allow time to custom cut diamonds etc. Please let us know early on if you are working on a specific timeline so we can communicate this to our jeweller.
Step 7: Upon completion of production, our jeweller sends us some pictures and / or videos of the completed piece which we will send on to you. This is your chance to view the completed piece, if anything doesn’t seem up to standard, let us know! We can ask our jeweller to make some last minute minor changes if needed, though obviously this may incur further cost if the changes differ from the agreed-upon CAD.
Step 8: Once we receive the piece, we perform some in-house QC. This only takes a day or two, we want to be sure all our jewellery is up to our high standards before it’s sent out!
Step 9: We will request that you pay your remaining balance.
Step 10: Your new jewellery piece will be posted to you, insured, via Australia Post.
For most orders the whole process is completed within around 3 - 4 weeks.
